 Judith (Judy) Fowler…

 

… is a mystery writer, humorist, and retired jail discharge planner who once sang opera.            

Her stories appear in Coastal Crimes, Virginia Is for Mysteries, Volume III, and Rock, Roll and Ruin—all available on Amazon.

Lie About Yourself, Judy’s first novel-length mystery, will be released in 2023.

She’s won awards for her essays and poetry and is available as a speaker on the mysteries of retirement. Her collection of “senior noir” crime stories are based on what she imagines her retired neighbors are hiding.  You can message her @JudithJohonnotFowler on Facebook.

 Maria Hudgins… 


is the author of the Dotsy Lamb Travel Mysteries and the Lacy Glass Archaeology Mysteries. She has had short stories and novellas published in a number of anthologies and periodicals. Her stories often feature her real-life interests such as chemistry, travel, archaeology, dogs, cats, and poisons. A native of East Tennessee, she now lives in beautiful Hampton, Virginia, on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. She has visited some 15 countries and these travels play a big role in her stories.

Maria has a master’s degree in plant physiology with a minor in biochemistry from the University of Tennessee. Having never studied writing, she credits her English teacher mother with instilling in her a great respect for our language.

Penny Hutson...

... is a retired middle/high school English teacher and librarian of 30 years with Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Penny is married with one son and now a 7-year-old 49er fan grandson. She studied under award-winning author Tony Ardizonne in the creative writing program at Old Dominion University (ODU) and graduated with a BA in English from Averett College (now University) and later an MA in Education and Library Media K-12 from ODU. Before teaching, a brief career as a journalist landed Penny many published articles and a regular column in the Danville-Virginian weekly newspaper. Currently, Penny's working on a YA historical novel..

​She is president of the Sisters in Crime, Mystery by the Sea chapter, and a member of the Hampton Roads Writers, and Short Mystery Fiction Society.

Teresa grew up reading Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mysteries. Combining her love of reading mysteries and writing professional articles led to writing short fiction and novellas. Today, she doesn't carry a rod like her idol but she hot rods. Teresa attends classic car shows showing her Torch Red, 1955 Thunderbird. Sheryl Jordan…

 


…began reading all genres of books at a young age, her favorites being mysteries and true crime. As a child, she often read four to five books while vacationing with her family. Sheryl completed her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at Saint Leo College and completed a paralegal certification at Old Dominion University. She is a member of Sisters in Crime National and the Mysteries by the Sea chapter. Sheryl is the author of Manipulation, Money and Murder, a fictitious novel based on true crimes, and a short fiction in Coastal Crimes anthology. Born in Portugal, raised in Minnesota, she now resides in Virginia with her family. She loves spending time with her grandchildren, Nana’s Angels.

With mystery stories in Mystery Weekly Magazine (cover), Seascape: The Best New England Crime Stories 2019, and A Study in Lavender: Queering Sherlock Holmes, Max has over 475 stories, poems, art, and articles published all told (under various bylines). A former editor for The Mariners’ Museum, this genderfluid, pan night owl can be found reading comics with cats or shooting b&w film in the noir nightscape.

Michael Rigg…

 

…is a retired Navy Judge Advocate and retired civil servant. He writes short stories and novels set in two disparate locations: Virginia (mostly Hampton Roads locations) and New Orleans. Mike is a  member of Hampton Roads Writers, as well as the Sisters-in-Crime national organization and its Southeastern Virginia Chapter—Mystery by the Sea. Visit him online at:

Mike's short story, "Four Cedars," was selected for First Prize in Fiction at the 2021 Hampton Roads Conference. His flash fiction work, "The Writ," won Third Place in the 2021 Golden Donut Short Story Contest sponsored by the Writers' Police Academy.

…is a sleuth in disguise, hunting down secrets, figuring out clues. Her cover identity is a high school teacher turned librarian turned cat-serving mystery writer. When she’s not researching art fraud, murder, and mayhem, she’s drinking too much coffee and sneaking more art and craft supplies into the house! Kimberly Thorn…

Many of Kim’s published works are of a journalist background. She has worked for Byerly Publications as a freelance writer for several Hampton Roads Community newspapers, The Virginia Beach SunThe Portsmouth Times & The Chesapeake Post. More recently she has written articles for the Hot Cars website. She is a HUGE sports fan and is excited to start soon in writing for the MySportsVote Twitter group.

She has a couple of fictional works that are in progress. One is a novel that is an adventure where the main character is a mixture of James Bond and Geena Davis’ assassin character from the movie, The Long Kiss Goodnight. She has a YA ‘cozy’ mystery she is working in as well.

Jayne Ormerod…

 


…writes coastal cozies with a splash of humor. She grew up in a small Ohio town and attended a small-town Ohio college. Upon earning her accountancy degree, she became a CIA (that’s not a sexy spy thing, but a Certified Internal Auditor). She married a naval officer, and off they sailed to see the world. After nineteen moves, they, along with their two rescue dogs Tiller and Scout, settled in a cottage by the Chesapeake Bay. Angela G. Slevin...


Angela G. Slevin’s affection for the written word began with reading anything and everything, especially about the adventures of her favorite characters – Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes - and the chilling works of Edgar Allan Poe. As a writer, Angela spent many years working in corporate communications, later writing feature articles about small business owners for a direct mail magazine. Angela currently writes for the marketing department of a professional development and training firm. Her short mystery story, Touché, was published in Coastal Crimes: Mysteries by the Sea, and other works of fiction are always in progress. Angela has lived in Virginia Beach for over twenty years with her husband, two children, and two dogs.
